Bring the phone number you already have.
Move it to Sotel and nobody needs to save a new one.
Start the port
Request the move from the phone number you want to keep. Your current network knows you’re leaving.
Verify with your NIN
Confirm it’s you. Every network in Nigeria asks for this.
You’re on Sotel
Same phone number, new network. Calls, texts and data carry on, on your Sotel plan.
eSIM or SIM. Your call.
Most phones from the last few years take an eSIM: scan a code and you’re on. Prefer a card? A physical SIM does the same job.
On iPhone
- Open Settings, then Mobile Service
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code
- Scan the code from your Sotel confirmation
- Label the line so you can tell it apart
On Android
- Open Settings, then Network & internet
- Next to SIMs, tap Add, then Download a SIM
- Scan the code from your Sotel confirmation
- Choose which line to use for data
Straight answers.
Do Sotel data plans expire?
No. A Sotel bundle has no validity period: the data stays on your line until you use it. When it runs out, top up any time. Your phone number stays active.
Can I keep my current phone number?
Yes. Nigeria’s number portability rules let you move your phone number between networks. Start the port, verify with your NIN, and your phone number continues on Sotel.
Why do you need my NIN?
SIM registration in Nigeria requires a National Identification Number. It is a rule for every network, not a Sotel policy. You give it when you activate, not when you reserve.
What is an eSIM?
A SIM built into your phone. Instead of putting in a card, you scan a QR code and the line activates. If your phone doesn’t support eSIM, a physical SIM does the same job.
Where does Sotel work?
Sotel works in every state in Nigeria, for calls, data and SMS. When you travel, the Sotel travel eSIM gives you data in more than 180 other countries.
